Digital Video Recorders

DVR (Digital Video Recorders) have now virtually replaced the older style time lapse video recorders.

DVR’s utilise a hard disk drive (HDD) to capture the images from the cameras. Every DVR J S Security install, have the facility of a date and time search, so gone are the days of countless VHS cassettes and hours of searching through footage.  Simply select the date and time of the footage you require and transfer it to either CD using an in-built CD writer, or to a USB memory stick (DVR model depending)

DVR’s can normally be selected with either 4, 8 or 16 camera inputs and depending on model, up to 4 audio inputs.  Most DVR’s have a standard video output which is a direct connection to the CRT monitors we install, or if you prefer, a flat panel monitor can be connected using additional equipment, (See Monitor section for further details)

The HDD size you require will be determined after a site visit, and is dependent on how many cameras are on the system, the frame rate at which the DVR records and how long the images are to be stored,  before being overwritten.
